展覽「我用身體畫座島」概念源自於寫生這個活動,我們常常以眼睛看到,然後用手畫出來的方式來紀錄,但有沒有可能用不同的身體感官來觀察周遭的變化呢?日本的漫畫家山口飛翔在漫畫《藍色時期》中畫出:「現在所看見的風景也不單只是眼前所見的景色,這個風景是由各種歷史、文化、流行與人堆疊出來的,變成我們現在所看見的風景。」
在以前,我們常藉由感官去經歷變化,以天空的顏色去辨認大地的時間,用眼睛、用手去觸摸植物、水與泥土,也用身體感受溫度的落差。繪畫在過去記錄下了不同時代的人物與風景,更對於時間與空間的描繪有了多重的表現方式。展覽邀請了段沐、郭奕臣、許庭甄、涂維政、彭奕軒、湯雅雯與魏柏任等藝術家參展,他們透過不同的方式對當下的環境進行觀察,並運用不同的媒材創造身體的體驗,去描繪那些不容易注意的景色,用創造力對社會提出問題。在展覽裡,我們邀請大家將自己的身體變成一支支的筆,去勾勒出我們的島嶼,並在穿梭於作品的過程之中,進行一場如跳島般的感官旅行。
The concept of the exhibition "I Use My Body to Draw an Island" originated from the activity of sketching, where we often use our eyes to see and then use our hands to draw as a way of recording. However, is it possible to observe the changes around us using different senses of the body? In the manga "Blue Period" by Japanese manga artist Tsubasa Yamaguchi, it is depicted that "the scenery we see now is not just the scenery in front of us. It is formed by various histories, cultures, trends, and people, becoming the scenery we see now."
In the past, we often experienced changes through our senses, using the color of the sky to identify the time of the earth, using our eyes and hands to touch plants, water, and soil, and using our bodies to feel the temperature difference. Painting has recorded different characters and landscapes of different eras in the past, and has multiple ways of depicting time and space. The exhibition invited artists such as Duan Mu, Guo Yichen, Hsu Ting-chen, Tu Wei-cheng, Peng Yixuan, Tang Ya-wen, and Wei Pei-jen to participate. They observe the current environment in different ways and use different media to create bodily experiences to depict those less noticeable scenes, using creativity to raise questions to society. In the exhibition, we invite everyone to turn their bodies into brushes to outline our islands, and in the process of moving through the artworks, embark on a sensory journey like island hopping.
